Joanna's Pop Art

Finding the right picture is the most difficult part. This photo is one of my favourite photos of myself. I chose this photo for my piece, as it’s a statement of how I want the world to see me. It’s a self-portrait.

We use an app on the iPad in our art class and it creates a gradient, which applies an effect on the image, you then can choose what colour background you want. There are lots of colours to choose from but I chose purple as I was wearing a purple dress in the photo.

You print out the picture and then you start to trace the image. It’s not that tricky but the picture is really detailed and you have to be very precise. I place the picture against the window, as it is easier for me to trace my face as the light shines through the picture. You need to take a step back and look at it every so often to make sure it looks well.  First I trace the light bits and then I’ll move on to the dark details. Then when it is traced I will paint.

The atmosphere in the art room at school is always fun. It’s a chance to talk to your friends and the teacher and have fun in the class, art is an expression, so have fun with it.

Art is everything, you can use it in engineering, you can use it in music, in your day-to-day life, how to make things, how to use things.

A world without art, would be really bland, boring and an uninteresting place. A world without art is no fun.
