Batik

Batik

Batik is a way of dying fabric by using a technique called wax resist.

Batik works by placing wax on to the parts of the cotton fabric that you don’t want to be dyed. The wax stops the dye from getting to that part of the cotton.

I’m waxing the green colour that I want to keep, so when I dye again in dark blue, everything that isn’t waxed will dye blue and everything that is waxed will stay the same colour.

It looks so good when the light shines through.

I never heard about batik before we started in school. But now that I have learned about batik, I’m suddenly seeing it everywhere.
